A product includes almost any device, machine, or product that is defective under the LPLA. This includes anything from a large industrial machine at an aluminum plant, to a pressure cooker or an “instant pot” in your kitchen that explodes. Common product liability claims include: home appliances (pressure cookers, instant pots, boilers and fryers); Medications (defective medications, or over the counter medications that have been recalled due to labeling); medical devices (knee and hip prothesis, pacemakers, surgical devices); Children’s toys and furniture; Lawn Equipment (mowers, edges and string trimmers, and log splitters); Home Improvement tools (drills, power saws, electrical equipment); and auto parts (airbags, brakes, engine devices).
